Student Employment Program

Description:

The Student Employment Program (SEP) at the National Research Council (NRC) offers Canadian students practical career-related experience in fields including research and development, engineering, technology, administration, library science, computer science, trades, business, technology advisory, finance, and human resources. Students gain exposure to challenging projects in an intellectually stimulating environment while using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

Key responsibilities and learning opportunities include:

• Contributing to ongoing projects in research, technology, or administrative domains depending on placement.

• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging in problem-solving and innovation.

• Participating in professional development and gaining mentorship from experienced NRC staff.

• Developing skills and knowledge applicable to future academic and career goals.

Qualifications:

• Must have completed High School (Grade 12 or equivalent) with a minimum "B" average (preference for "B+").

• Currently enrolled at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies next semester.

• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident; foreign nationals with valid Off-Campus Work Permit from an eligible institution may also apply.

Work Arrangements:

• Positions may be hybrid (combination of onsite and telework) depending on operational requirements.

• Students must travel to the worksite at least 60% of their schedule unless exceptions are granted for Indigenous or other eligible candidates.
