Description:

Cogeco Communications Inc. is seeking a Strategic Buyer to join its Corporate Procurement team in Montreal. The successful candidate will support various category managers in the execution of corporate and multi-entity projects, focusing on developing cost-reduction strategies, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing purchasing processes across departments.

This role is ideal for a proactive and analytical professional with a strong grasp of procurement principles, excellent communication skills in both French and English, and a passion for driving value through strategic sourcing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of corporate and multi-entity procurement projects involving suppliers, contracts, and business needs.

  • Develop and implement cost-reduction and efficiency strategies by analyzing market trends, product evolution, and supplier performance.

  • Manage business relationships with existing and prospective suppliers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Lead or assist in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including negotiation of terms, contract awards, and dispute resolution.

  • Prepare and present documentation for executive and selection committees in accordance with internal approval processes.

  • Conduct research on new products, services, and suppliers to ensure competitiveness and innovation.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for procurement categories.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings as a representative of the Procurement Department.

  • Support the development of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models with internal teams to optimize long-term financial performance.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Experience: 3–5 years in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.

  • Strong understanding of contractual language and negotiation principles.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar).

  • Fully bilingual (French and English) to liaise with suppliers across Canada and the U.S.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Valid driver’s license (occasional travel may be required).

  • Strong teamwork, customer service orientation, and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of financial markets and key performance indicators is considered an asset.
