Standards Research Manager

Description:

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA Group) is seeking a Manager, Standards Research to join its team in Montreal, Quebec. This full-time role is focused on advancing CSA’s standards research program by managing and facilitating research projects that enhance the quality and growth of CSA’s portfolio of standards.

The successful candidate will oversee the full lifecycle of research projects—from development to publication—ensuring high-quality deliverables and strategic outcomes aligned with CSA’s goals. Key responsibilities include managing RFPs, selecting researchers, forming advisory panels, coordinating contracts, overseeing reports, and promoting research findings internally and externally. The position requires deep familiarity with academic, government, and industrial research environments, and demands excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Standards Development, as well as external stakeholders such as volunteers, researchers, and industry experts. Your ability to build strong relationships and drive complex projects will be critical to your success.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate degree in science, engineering, health, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred)

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a standards or research-based environment

• Proven track record in managing research projects and publications

• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work on a broad range of topics outside primary expertise

• Familiarity with research methodologies, contracts, publication standards, and informed consent
