Job Title: Senior Public Accountant

📍 Location: North York, Ontario (In-Office Only)

💼 Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Firm:

My client is a boutique, full-service public accounting firm based in North York, Toronto, with a long-standing reputation for excellence across accounting, tax, and advisory services. They support a diverse portfolio of clients in industries such as dentistry, medicine, law, real estate, retail, and manufacturing, and are deeply involved in guiding their clients throughout every stage of the business lifecycle.

As the firm continues to grow, they’re looking to add Accountants at the Associate, Senior, and Manager levels, who bring a foundation in both tax and assurance work. This opportunity offers hands-on experience with complex compilations, review engagements, corporate and personal tax planning, and a wide range of special projects. Audit work is minimal.

This is a unique chance to join a well-run CPA firm that provides top-tier compensation, real autonomy, direct access to partners, and exposure to challenging, high-value work.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • High-Impact, Diverse Files – Work across compilations, reviews, corporate and personal tax, and advisory projects
  • Top Compensation – My client offers flexible and highly competitive pay for the right candidate
  • Autonomy & Ownership – Full control of your own files, no micromanagement
  • Partner Access – Ongoing exposure to leadership for learning, feedback, and career insight
  • Fast-Track Growth – Opportunities to take on more responsibility and move up quickly
  • In-Office Professional Team – Be part of a tight-knit, knowledgeable, and supportive group

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and finalize compilation (Notice to Reader) and review engagements, including full working paper files and financial statements
  • Prepare and file corporate tax returns (T2s) and related schedules
  • Handle personal tax returns (T1s), tax planning, and client queries
  • Work on special files, including tax reorganizations, estate planning, and advisory tasks
  • Apply ASPE and CSRS 4200 standards accurately and consistently
  • Mentor and support junior team members through technical guidance and file review
  • Maintain professional client communication and proactively support their needs
  • Manage multiple assignments with high attention to quality and timeliness

Candidate Profile:

  • CPA designation (or nearing completion)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Canadian public accounting firm
  • Strong technical experience in both assurance (especially compilation and review) and tax (corporate and personal)
  • Proficient in CaseWare, TaxPrep or Profile, and Excel
  • Sound understanding of ASPE and Canadian financial statement disclosures
  • Detail-oriented, accountable, and able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-trust environment with room to grow
