Sr. Accountant

We are looking for a self-driven, organized, and adaptive team member that is excited to work in a dynamic and evolving finance function. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Manager, Accounting and will be a key member of the accounting team supporting multiple subsidiary accounting. The role includes but is not limited to preparation and management of the month end close, reconciliation and investigation of account balances, budget to actual variance analysis, supporting the external audit, liaising with various parties within the organization, and review output of team members. The role will also be required to produce analytics to support management review and various other ad hoc requests.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual GL close activities with diligence and accuracy, while adhering to timelines.
    • Review income statement and balance sheet trending against historical data and budgets, resolve any identified issues, and document explanations.
    • Own a number of complex accounting areas including employee stock compensation, hedges, commissions, employee loans, and assist with acquisition accounting.
    • Reconcile and manage balance sheet by completing general ledger reconciliations (equity related balances including common shares and accumulated paid in capital, restricted share unit liabilities, foreign exchange and interest rate hedges, employee loans, fixed assets, prepaid assets, accrued payables), understanding underlying balances, investigating, and resolving discrepancies within month.
    • Develop and maintain a monthly analysis on complex items including intercompany transactions, stock compensation, and hedging.
    • Review work of team members to ensure accuracy.
    • Correspond with multiple departments – HR, Total Rewards, Engineering, Legal, Operations, IT etc. to obtain required details used for accounting calculations.
    • Support in onboarding of balances and details of newly acquired entities into GL and related modules and integrate/streamline new entities into existing processes.
    • Perform analytics to support GL entries and P&L movements in general.
    • Manage multiple subsidiary accounting and intercompany accounts reconciliation.
    • Maintain control over GL inputs by ensuring that any system reports are complete and accurate, and all GL attributes have been correctly captured in entries performed by your team and others
    • Coordinate with accounts payable and FP&A teams to resolve matters pertaining to GL coding discrepancies.
    • Maintain and enhance current process to improve day to day and month end processes while maintaining all required controls and documentation.
    • Support with external audit requests and liaise with auditors as required.
    • Perform ad hoc tasks and analysis as requested by management
