Description:

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Interventional Gastroenterologist to join the medical team at Brandon Regional Health Centre. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice advanced gastroenterology in a growing regional hub that serves a population of over 200,000 people in southwestern Manitoba.

As the second-largest city in Manitoba, Brandon is home to a fully accredited, multi-specialty facility with over 300 beds. The hospital is currently undergoing a $110 million expansion to enhance inpatient care facilities by 2026. This position provides a supportive and collaborative work environment, access to advanced diagnostic tools, and opportunities to contribute to medical education as part of the University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Medicine satellite campus.

The successful candidate will perform complex interventional endoscopic procedures, provide consultations, and manage gastrointestinal conditions with a focus on patient-centered care. PRA-SP (Practice Ready Assessment – Specialist Practice) applicants are also encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, manage, and treat gastrointestinal diseases and disorders using advanced interventional endoscopic techniques.

  • Perform therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and other minimally invasive interventions.

  • Provide consultations and act as a specialist resource to other physicians and healthcare professionals.

  • Supervise and participate in surgical procedures as required.

  • Prescribe treatments, medications, and post-procedure care plans.

  • Contribute to the training and mentoring of medical students and residents affiliated with the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across departments, including radiology, oncology, internal medicine, and surgery.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) with specialist certification in Gastroenterology.

  • Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

  • Eligible for or holding full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).

  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) or equivalent malpractice insurance is mandatory.

  • Additional fellowship training in Therapeutic Endoscopy or Interventional Gastroenterology preferred.

  • Experience managing Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is an asset.

  • PRA-SP candidates meeting eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.

  • Successful completion of Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector, Adult Abuse, and Child Abuse Registry checks is required.

  • Proof of immunization in accordance with Prairie Mountain Health policies.

Compensation & Schedule:

  • Type: Fee-for-service model as per the Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Health negotiated rates.

  • Salary Range: CAD 252,253 – CAD 524,874 annually (based on volume and experience).

  • Schedule: Full-time, various shifts (days, early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, on-call).

  • Minimum Salary Guarantee: 1-year guaranteed minimum salary upon appointment.

  • Hours: 30–40 hours per week.
