Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) invites applications for the role of Communications Specialist – Special Projects, a full-time on-site position based in Burns Lake, BC. At CSFS, you will join a dynamic, values-driven team providing critical services to 11 member Nations. This role directly supports a range of internal and external communications projects that advance CSFS’s strategic goals and operational initiatives, with a focus on positive community engagement, public relations, and communications leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide communications support for CSFS programs and projects, focusing on audiences such as Indigenous communities, advocacy groups, government bodies, and the media.

• Assist with executing strategic communications aligned with organizational priorities.

• Support health promotion and community engagement efforts through creative and culturally sensitive messaging.

• Coordinate public relations efforts to enhance awareness and support for CSFS initiatives.

• Contribute to communication planning, branding, and outreach for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Competencies & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in a communications role. Experience in healthcare, child and family services, non-profits, or government is an asset.

• Strong knowledge of communication strategies, media relations, content development, and stakeholder engagement.

• Accreditation or membership with IABC or CPRS is considered an asset.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to cultural sensitivity and inclusion.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments.
