Description:
The Sourcing Manager will lead the sourcing strategy and procurement of mechanical and electrical components for Hydrostor’s projects. Reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Sourcing, this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technology, Project Execution, Legal, and Commercial, to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of critical equipment. This position will play a key role in supplier selection, contract negotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives, directly impacting project execution and the overall success of the company.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sourcing strategy for mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring alignment with project schedules and financial objectives.
- Own the sourcing program for all mechanical direct material procurement across Hydrostor’s projects.
- Lead supplier selection, qualification, and capacity assessments to ensure a reliable and high-quality supply chain.
- Manage the request-for-proposal (RFP) process and negotiate supplier contracts to optimize cost, quality, and delivery terms.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives by identifying and engaging with best-cost suppliers while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Support the Technology and Commercial teams in evaluating potential projects and integrating new mechanical technologies.
- Lead sourcing engagement in all project tollgate activities, technical reviews, and milestone assessments.
- Develop and implement supplier optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve overall supply chain performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, industry regulations, and contract requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster long-term partnerships.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or program management, specifically within mechanical equipment categories.
- 5+ years of experience in sourcing and manufacturing, particularly within energy, power generation, or industrial sectors would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical components such as turbomachinery, large fabrications, pumps, valves, and prefabricated piping
- Good understanding of electrical components such as transformers, motors and generators.
- Experience working with power plants or large industrial infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record of supplier selection, contract negotiation, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, commercial, and legal teams to align sourcing activities with business objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Previous program management experience with a focus on supply chain optimization.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex commercial contracts with global suppliers.
- High motivation, influencing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present sourcing strategies and recommendations to senior leadership.
