The Manager, Software Engineering will drive execution and innovation for Wiser’s Online Price Intelligence product. The role requires a hands-on leader passionate about scaling systems, solving complex technical challenges, and empowering teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

This role combines technical leadership, product collaboration, and people management to align engineering outcomes with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead one or more delivery teams building pricing and execution solutions for brand manufacturers.

• Partner with product leaders to shape strategy and guide technical direction.

• Drive clarity on business value to prioritize initiatives and resources.

• Balance short-term roadmap delivery with long-term technical vision.

• Champion disciplined engineering practices and ensure high-quality outcomes.

• Manage and mentor a distributed team of 4–7 engineers.

• Oversee sprint planning, backlog refinement, and project execution.

• Promote engineering best practices, process improvements, and automation.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers.

• Proactively plan resource allocation for upcoming business and technical goals.

• Participate in manager on-call rotation to support critical system escalations.

Qualifications:

Experience & Leadership

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing teams.

• Proven ability to mentor engineers and improve team performance.

• Track record of innovation, process improvement, and enterprise-level change management.

• Experience leading distributed or remote teams successfully.

Technical Expertise

• Strong background in distributed systems, integrations, and automation.

• Proficiency in architecting and deploying distributed software platforms.

• Hands-on experience with AI tools and frameworks (e.g., coding assistants, LLM APIs).

• Deep understanding of AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, and infrastructure concepts.

• Strong knowledge of RDBMS and SQL programming.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SDLC best practices.

Execution & Collaboration

• Ability to turn complex business problems into actionable technical goals.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Ownership mindset and accountability for end-to-end project execution.

• Experience establishing and improving engineering metrics and workflows.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD).

• Interest or background in data and analytics.

• Experience in retail or e-commerce environments.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• Manage a distributed team of 4–7 engineers.

• Hire, onboard, and develop top engineering talent.

• Provide regular feedback, performance reviews, and career growth support.

• Lead sprints, guide technical decisions, and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.

• Communicate project progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.

Additional Information:

• Participation required in manager on-call rotation for escalation support.
