Software Engineer

Description:

Yelp is seeking a Security Software Engineer to join its Incident Detection and Response team. This fully remote role in Canada involves leading and participating in security incident response activities, developing automated detection tooling, and enhancing the organization’s monitoring and response capabilities. The engineer will help ensure Yelp’s cloud infrastructure, networks, endpoints, and applications remain secure while collaborating with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as incident commander, investigator, and/or coordinator for security incidents.

• Develop automated tools to detect attacker TTPs (Tools, Tactics, Procedures) and IoCs (Indicators of Compromise).

• Design, develop, and maintain monitoring, correlation, and alerting systems for infrastructure, networks, and applications.

• Enhance vulnerability detection and response capabilities.

• Define security policies and best practices for IT, infrastructure, and third-party integrations.

• Conduct threat modeling for business applications and infrastructure integrations.

• Communicate effectively to enforce rigorous security standards and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in securing consumer websites, mobile apps, or large corporate IT infrastructure.

• Proficiency in malware analysis, network flow analysis, digital forensics, SOAR, and SIEM platforms.

• Experience with threat intelligence (TIP) platforms, threat hunting, and vulnerability management.

• Software development experience in Python, JavaScript, Objective-C, or similar languages.

• Ability to build custom tools to improve monitoring, detection, and response capabilities.

• Strong communication skills and ability to educate others on security best practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary range: $101000 - $237000 annually, plus potential bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
