Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead its Elastic Cloud Platform Services team. This team plays a pivotal role in enabling Elastic’s software engineering teams by providing the necessary services and capabilities required for deploying and orchestrating Elastic’s applications within a scalable SaaS platform, ensuring these solutions are reliable and accessible to customers worldwide.

The Software Development Manager will oversee a team of 5 skilled engineers across multiple time zones, focusing on building mission-critical SaaS services, including Kubernetes controllers, integrations with major cloud providers, and GitOps practices using Argo CD. The role involves close collaboration with engineering and product teams to deliver high-quality features while maintaining scalability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and support a distributed team of engineers, ensuring their professional growth and success.

• Collaborate with product management and tech leads to develop clear roadmaps and align team goals with organizational objectives.

• Oversee deliverables, enforce high-quality standards, and actively participate in code reviews.

• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to execute large-scale, cross-team initiatives.

• Improve engineering processes, set best practices, and foster a strong, inclusive engineering culture.

• Engage with other Elastic teams to understand their requirements and provide world-class platform services.

• Identify hiring needs, drive recruitment efforts, and attract top technical talent.

• Conduct performance evaluations, manage career development plans, and ensure team members are motivated and supported.

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing software engineering teams (2+ years).

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, SaaS platforms, and cloud-native architectures.

• Experience with Kubernetes Operators/Controllers, GitOps practices, and cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Hands-on software engineering background with strong computer science fundamentals.

• Effective communicator with the ability to mentor and inspire technical teams.

• Experience handling performance management, including promotions, PIPs, and terminations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a fully remote environment.

• Ability to dive deep into technical discussions, challenge architecture decisions, and guide engineers effectively.

• Strong collaborative mindset and passion for inclusive, respectful team dynamics.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary: 128300 – 203000 CAD/year (10691 – 16916 CAD/month).
