Software Developer

Description:

The Canadian Light Source is currently recruiting for a Software Developer Summer Student within the Information Technology Department. Reporting to the Software Development Lead, this position will be a full-time summer position starting on Wednesday, May 1st, and concluding on Friday, August 30th, or as discussed with the direct supervisor.

Position Summary:

• Develop software on a team of developers. Coordinate or work independently on tasks to completion.
• Working in web development with a focus on Python/Django, Javascript, and HTML with the possibility of working within the MERN stack (MongoDB, ExpressJS, ReactJS, NodeJS).
• Support, maintain and deploy existing solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and tested software.
• Work collaboratively and iteratively to build solutions that help achieve our corporate objectives.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, computer engineering, or a programming diploma.
• Working with relational and no-SQL databases (MySQL/PostgresQL/MongoDB) is a requirement.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability and willingness to adjust to changing priorities.
• Excellent attention to details.
• Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
