Description:

S&P Global Market Intelligence is hiring a Software Developer II to join its Pulitzer Team, responsible for building the digital infrastructure powering the MI News platform. This role is based in Toronto, ON and involves on-site, full-time responsibilities in developing, maintaining, and optimizing complex news delivery systems.

As part of a collaborative development team, the Software Developer II will work alongside editorial staff to design and implement innovative solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency. The position will include hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and technical guidance, playing a key role in ensuring a scalable, high-performance news platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to design and deliver impactful features

• Provide production support by monitoring system performance and troubleshooting technical issues

• Develop and maintain applications and RESTful APIs

• Integrate third-party services while ensuring system scalability and security

• Conduct testing, debugging, and performance optimization

• Analyze user feedback and system metrics to implement improvements

• Participate in agile development processes including sprint planning and retrospectives

• Document system architecture and development standards

• Support editorial staff with training and onboarding for new technical tools

• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or related field

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in software development and application support

• Strong command of Core Java and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)

• Expertise in RESTful APIs design and performance tuning

• Familiar with AWS and cloud deployment environments

• Proficient in working with SQL and NoSQL databases

• Effective monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Ext JS, SCALA, and Jackrabbit cache

• Knowledge of Kafka, GraphQL, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices

• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js

• Exposure to AI prompting technologies
