Description:
RRC Polytech is seeking a dynamic and technically skilled Simulation Technology Specialist to join its Simulation Centre located at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This full-time, on-site role is essential to supporting the cutting-edge technology used for simulation-based education, particularly in healthcare training environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in IT, AV systems, and medical simulation technology, and will contribute to the design, maintenance, and operational management of all simulation equipment and multimedia systems.
This position not only involves technical responsibilities but also includes direct collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, development of operational policies, and creation of user documentation. The specialist will play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of the Simulation Centre while ensuring seamless integration and functionality of all technologies used in simulations.
Design, install, maintain, and support simulation technologies including high-fidelity mannequins, AV systems, medical device simulators, and related peripherals.
Spearhead the integration of existing and new simulation technologies within the Simulation Centre.
Maintain and troubleshoot IT and AV infrastructure, software, and hardware used in simulated learning environments.
Develop technical documentation, user manuals, standard operating procedures, and proposals.
Support both internal and external users, ensuring optimal use of simulation technologies.
Interpret CAD drawings, electronic schematics, and system diagrams for installation and maintenance.
Train users and staff in operating various simulation and AV systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement by researching and applying best practices in healthcare simulation and AV integration.
Work closely with diverse teams, effectively managing technical requirements and addressing potential conflicts.
Maintain a respectful and inclusive workplace that supports diversity and equity.
College certificate in Electrical Systems, IT/Networking, or Media Technology (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Manitoba limited specialized trade electricians license (M-V) with at least 3600 hours of work experience.
Strong background in AV installation standards, network topology, and communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Bonjour, mDNS).
In-depth knowledge of healthcare simulation standards, simulation ecosystems, and simulators.
Technical proficiency in repairing electronic equipment, soldering, and using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and signal generators.
Experience interpreting architectural blueprints and electronic diagrams.
Advanced problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and training abilities for end users with varying levels of technical understanding.
Strong computer skills including database use, technical documentation, and simulation management.
Experience with Laerdal Medical or SIMULATIONiQ systems.
Education or hands-on experience in healthcare simulation.
Previous work supporting technology in healthcare environments.
Experience managing or contributing to technical projects.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
May require evening, weekend, or overtime work as needed.
