Position Summary

Are you a hands-on leader who takes pride in precision, safety, and results? We're

looking for an experienced Shop Manager - Millwright to join a Canadian leader in the

material handling industry.

In this role, you'll oversee a team of 8-10 technicians in a busy service facility, using your

millwright and mechanical expertise to lead installation, repair, and maintenance

activities for heavy industrial equipment. You'll ensure projects are executed efficiently,

safely, and to the highest standards while fostering a strong culture of teamwork and

accountability.

The ideal candidate is a Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) who has

transitioned into—or is ready for—a leadership role. You'll combine technical know-how

with strong organizational and people management skills to keep operations running

smoothly and customers fully satisfied.

Key Responsibilities

 Lead and supervise 8-10 technicians within mechanical and fabrication

departments.

 Oversee installation, alignment, repair, and maintenance of conveyors, crushers,

screeners, and other heavy machinery.

 Plan and coordinate workflow, personnel, tools, and materials to ensure

productivity and minimal downtime.

 Maintain strict quality and safety standards while fostering a culture of

accountability and teamwork.

 Review daily and weekly work plans with management; adjust schedules to meet

production and quality goals.

 Develop project timelines and ensure work is completed on schedule and within

budget.

 Collaborate with field service, parts, and transportation teams to improve

operational efficiency.

 Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections; ensure compliance with OHSA

regulations and PPE standards.

 Ensure accurate completion of work orders and repair documentation.

 Support recruitment, training, and performance development of shop staff.

 Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold company health and

safety programs.

Qualifications

 Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or equivalent Skilled Trade

Certification / AEC / DEP (required).

 Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or heavy industrial

equipment service, ideally with leadership experience.

 Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, including

alignment and fabrication.

 Proven ability to lead a team, manage workflow, and maintain safety and quality

standards.

 Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

 Commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.
