Shipping Foreman

Description:

The Shipping Foreman/Horticulture Technician will also assist with our everyday work for the remainder of the week. At different times of the year, we will be propagating plants through softwood cuttings, hardwood cuttings, and division as well as transplanting small plants and rooted cuttings into larger containers for future sales. Other daily duties will include watering, weeding, de-leafing, pruning, staking vines, and moving plants within the nursery.

The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated, hard-working individual with an interest in horticulture and plant propagation. Additionally, having leadership experience and a desire to be in a lead role is vital for this position. Shipping can be a fast-paced environment which requires paying attention to many details to avoid making mistakes on orders. While the primary responsibility for this position will be to manage the shipping team, the successful candidate will be closely involved with all work done on site. This is an opportunity to learn best practices in plant propagation and greenhouse management as well as learn about over 1000 different plant species and varieties.

Job Description

• Supervise and manage packaging team
• Prepare and package orders for shipping
• Ensure the shipping area and all workstations are clean, well organized, and efficient
• Keep inventory of shipping supplies like plastic bags, boxes, etc.
• Propagate plants by softwood cuttings, hardwood cuttings and division
• Transplant small plants and rooted cuttings into larger containers
• Move plants by hand and cart
