Description:

Crombie REIT, a leading real estate company managing 18.8M square feet of retail, industrial, and mixed-use residential properties across 303 locations, is seeking a Senior Vice President, People & Culture. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board’s HR Committee, the SVP will lead the human resources and communications functions for Crombie’s 300 employees nationwide.

This executive role is central to ensuring that Crombie’s systems, programs, practices, and talent are scalable for future growth. The SVP will oversee succession planning, employee engagement, compensation structures, and KPI management, while serving as a strategic partner to the executive team and trusted advisor to the board. Additionally, this role includes leadership of internal and external communications to strengthen Crombie’s brand and marketing efforts.

The SVP will be responsible for building and refining HR processes that support organizational change, embedding people and culture priorities into business operations, and acting as a culture creator to foster a values-driven environment. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, with experience navigating complex governance structures, and is comfortable advising at the board level while remaining engaged in operational details.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead HR and communications functions across Crombie’s operations in Canada.

  • Develop and implement scalable HR systems, processes, and programs aligned with organizational goals.

  • Drive succession planning, employee engagement, and talent management initiatives.

  • Strengthen compensation structures and implement KPIs to measure organizational performance.

  • Provide change leadership to ensure execution of strategic initiatives.

  • Oversee internal and external communications to enhance brand presence and cohesion.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive team, and board on people and culture matters.

Key Qualities & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a senior HR leader in growing organizations, preferably with large capital or complex corporate structures.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into actionable HR initiatives.

  • Strong governance, relationship management, and board-level communication skills.

  • Collaborative, approachable, humble, and hands-on in execution.

  • Skilled in fostering a value-based, inclusive organizational culture.
