DMA – DuCharme, McMillen & Associates, Inc., an employee-owned firm recognized as a 2025 Great Place to Work Certified company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Manager – Canada Sales Tax Recovery to join its team in Toronto. This role is ideal for experienced tax professionals who specialize in Canadian indirect tax and want to take ownership of client-facing responsibilities while managing and leading high-value consulting projects.

As a Senior Tax Manager, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reviews of client records to identify refund opportunities, credits, and potential tax savings across Federal and Provincial jurisdictions. You will prepare detailed tax reports, represent clients during audits and hearings, and act as a trusted advisor by providing tailored recommendations to optimize compliance and minimize liabilities. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will contribute to business development efforts, manage client accounts, and lead a team to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Canada sales tax (GST/HST/QST/PST) reviews for clients to identify refund potential and compliance improvements.

  • Prepare detailed written reports for Federal/Provincial taxing authorities and status updates for clients.

  • Represent clients during audits and hearings, advocating for maximum tax savings.

  • Provide strategic recommendations on tax recovery and compliance processes.

  • Actively participate in business development initiatives and assist in designing customized tax solutions for new and existing clients.

  • Manage and coordinate activities of team members, ensuring timely and high-quality output.

  • Conduct on-site inspections of client operations to evaluate tax implications.

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Federal and Provincial tax regulations, legislation, and court rulings.

  • Research complex tax issues and support client needs with thorough analysis.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline required.

  • CPA designation (CGA, CMA, CA) strongly preferred.

  • 7–10 years’ professional tax or accounting experience, with strong focus on Canadian Indirect Tax (GST/HST/QST/PST).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.

  • Willingness to travel 25–50% as required.
