Senior Systems Administrator

Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join a collaborative and innovative IT team on a 6-month contract basis, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role.

This position is suited for a seasoned IT professional with strong enterprise infrastructure experience who can balance day-to-day operational support with strategic technology initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing critical IT systems across hybrid environments, including both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure.

Working as part of a distributed technology team, you will support infrastructure improvements, lead technical initiatives, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of enterprise platforms, including messaging, backup, recovery, and virtualization solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support enterprise infrastructure, including Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, and virtual environments
• Provide advanced Level 3 technical support for production and non-production systems
• Monitor, maintain, and enhance backup, disaster recovery, and storage environments
• Investigate and resolve system vulnerabilities while supporting ongoing security improvements
• Participate in and lead technology projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure deployments
• Troubleshoot and manage email systems, including message routing, delivery, and configuration issues
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery documentation
• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to ensure effective delivery and support
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior IT team members
• Participate in operational support activities and escalation coverage when required

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive experience supporting and administering Windows Server environments
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Exchange administration, including on-premises environments
• Proven experience working with virtualization technologies and hybrid infrastructure models
• Experience supporting Microsoft cloud solutions, including Azure, Microsoft 365, and Teams
• Practical experience with enterprise backup, recovery, and data protection solutions
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Experience working within formal IT change management processes and environments

Must-Haves

• 7–10 years Windows Server administration experience
• 7–10 years Exchange (on-prem) administration
