Senior Student Mobility Coordinator

 

Description:

BCIT’s School of Business is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE ), Senior Student Mobility Coordinator. This position ensures the effective coordination of all aspects of the Study Abroad (SA) mobility program of the School of Business and Media (SoBM), for undergraduate and graduate students. Leads the implementation of promotional, marketing and events designed to enhance awareness of global mobility opportunities. Serves as a key contact in the SoBM for all students/stakeholders in international student mobility programs. Coordinates the implementation and delivery of domestic and international diversified information support services, materials and media, for all pre-departure operations, onboarding and student’s stay arrangements, ongoing advising and post-stay debriefings, in order to maximize the student experience. Researches, analyzes, recommends and implements new initiatives and programming to enhance student opportunities and participation in mobility programs offered by the SoBM. Develops and further strengthens effective relationships with multiple departments within BCIT, key stakeholders and international partners in designated overseas markets, to raise the SoBM international programs profile, ensure effective coordination of efforts and to achieve overall international student recruitment and enrolment strategy.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develops and recommends global students’ mobility strategies to the Associate Director, Global Relations to implement and operationalize the SoBM SA activities.
  • Oversees the implementation and regulatory compliance of key student mobility programs and the effective processing of prospective international students’ identification and selection, applications assessment and management, coordination of waitlists, analysis and resolution of inquiries, local and international promotion of programs, and logistics of international mobility operations. Takes a lead in approaching Faculty/departments to promote students’ mobility.
  • Develops and coordinates high quality administrative processes to provide specialised, centralised support to a large number of SA students, and to ensure the programs they are enrolled in, remain in compliance with applicable international regulations and BCIT’s guidelines. Implements information/advising procedures to refer SA students to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for information on applicable visa/work permit requirements.
  • Serves as the main information contact for international partners and for inbound and outbound students on international mobility programs. Provides high-quality services to students interested in a mobility experience to maximize their chances of participating in an international experience. Builds connections through students’ networks/committees to promote global mobility programs.
  • Coordinates overseas students’ recruitment and mobility with team members in the Global Relations division of the SoBM, ensuring appropriate workload allocation and resourcing adapting and amending as appropriate during the academic year.
  • Liaises with the Registrar’s Office to ensure effective students’ applications management, enrolments and operations. Liaises with academic units/faculties to coordinate course selections, onboarding and student support, and with Marketing and Communication for promotional efforts.
  • Leads international Study Abroad recruitment as needed. Plans and attends external recruitment fairs, school visits and interview events, providing applicants and their families with information, support and guidance from initial enquiry through to enrolment.
  • Represents BCIT SoBM in projects, conferences and promotional activities with external stakeholders such as international agent partners. Coordinates with agent offices overseas and partner institutions, to hold student interview sessions to generate high quality student applications to SoBM programs.
  • Conducts research analysis on international education practices, cultural diversity, immigration regulations, market conditions and international funding opportunities. Analyzes international mobility trends and immigration law updates, to develop and present briefings, market intelligence and recommendations to the SoBM.
  • Develops and implements procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, compliance, quality and to report performance indicators and assessment of deviations. Proactively ensures systems availability and seeks feedback from departments on student demands and need for new partnership developments.
  • Develops information and training materials for the SoBM mobility programs. Provides recommendations to the Associate Director, Global Relations on access for team members to appropriate training and development opportunities in the area of international education, students’ mobility, immigration laws and BCIT programs. Ensures effective logistics coordination for training events.
  • Coordinates with SoBM leadership and Finance for budget management for relevant student mobility initiatives, ensuring the funds are allocated in line with the SoBM operational plan. Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned consistent with the job grade for this position.

Education:

  • Completion of a Bachelor Degree in Education, Business, Communications or Philology, International Relations or related field, plus specialized courses in international education/immigration regulations.
