The role works in a fast-paced environment and is responsible for managing high-profile and complex projects, competing priorities and multiple deadlines, and high volumes of work. As such, overtime may be required periodically. To be successful, the individual in this role must be excellent at organization, prioritization, and managing relationships at all levels, including engaging effectively with academia, industry, community, and government. Position Description Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Develop and implement high-quality and timely communication and marketing strategies to drive the objectives of the research enterprise in alignment with the direction of the university Build and maintain the reputation of the research enterprise at the University of Calgary Develop project plans and content; provide status reports; evaluate performance of plans Lead project teams for high-profile or high-risk communications initiatives within the VPR portfolio Write, edit, and/or review all communication materials related to assigned initiatives Produce engaging content across channels (video, audio, web, stories, speaking, events, etc.) to elevate the story of Innovation at UCalgary, ensuring quality and consistency Engage stakeholders in the work and outcomes of assigned initiatives; collaborate with partners on campus and within the community Enable brand stewardship and positioning for the research and innovation enterprise and initiatives within the portfolio Qualifications / Requirements: Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field, or equivalent work experience Minimum 8+ years experience in marketing and communications Expertise in planning and implementing strategic communications and marketing programs, including effective creation and execution of large-scale projects and campaigns Expert ability to distil complex information for targeted audiences, including creating compelling narratives for the public and non-technical audiences Strong science communication and storytelling skills Demonstrated excellence producing video and audio products, including podcasts Strong organization and project management skills, excellent attention to detail, with ability to direct the work of external agencies and vendors Confidence and skill to lead initiatives and provide counsel to senior leaders, and to work collaboratively with stakeholders across campus and in the community Demonstrated excellence in visual design, writing, and editing Experience with Marketo, Drupal, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom, and an ability to quickly learn new technologies Application Deadline: August 12, 2022 We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
