Senior Software Engineer

Description:

Versaterm is a global public safety solutions company providing software for agencies, forensic labs, courts, schools, and other institutions. Since 1977, they focus on improving workflows, operational efficiency, and public safety outcomes.

Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Full Stack Developer will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that meet business needs, deliver exceptional user experiences, and support the public safety ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new features and enhance existing products.

• Design and develop frontend UI and backend REST API endpoints.

• Design relational schema changes for new features while maintaining backward compatibility.

• Prioritize workloads across multiple projects and stakeholders.

• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and support continuous improvement.

• Optimize product performance, scalability, and security.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or related field)

• 5+ years full-stack development experience on large-scale projects

• Proficiency in web-based applications: HTML, JavaScript, CSS

• Experience with relational databases (Postgres)

• Expertise in Java (Spring), SQL (ORMs), and JavaScript (Vue)

• Ability to independently build full-stack features

Desired / Additional Skills:

• Cloud services experience

• Multi-tenancy application implementation

• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

• System integration experience

• Leadership on large-scale projects

• Open-source contributions or personal project portfolio

Other Requirements:

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

• Security clearance from the Government of Canada required (Reliability clearance)

• Compliance with specific customer contract security requirements
