As a Senior Software Engineer I in the Smart Trailer and Connected Equipment division, you will be part of one of Samsara’s fastest-growing product lines. This team is dedicated to creating solutions that allow customers to efficiently manage trailers and other unpowered equipment. You will design and deliver end-to-end solutions such as utilization tracking, monitoring loads and temperatures through sensors, and asset tracking systems that provide complete visibility into customer operations.

This role is fully remote and open to candidates residing in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver innovative solutions with a strong focus on customer outcomes, balancing quick iterations with long-term value.

• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to maintain the technical health of products while meeting business objectives.

• Serve as a technical leader and mentor within the engineering team, exemplifying best practices in design and implementation.

• Engage directly with customers through interviews, product feedback, and success metrics to ensure solutions address real-world needs.

• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and provide input into long-term technical strategies.

• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles, including customer success, building for the long term, growth mindset, inclusivity, and teamwork.

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in software development.

• Strong coding skills and proficiency in one or more of the following: Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers across infrastructure, firmware, and software disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building and launching new products (0–1 stage) and scaling them for growth.

• Knowledge of developing stable, scalable systems while remaining adaptable to customer feedback.

• Prior experience with geolocation data and related applications.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Monthly base salary between CAD 12625 – CAD 13612 depending on location, skills, and experience.

• Total direct compensation includes base salary, bonus/variable pay, and RSU (restricted stock unit) awards for eligible roles.
