What you will do

  • Provide Leadership
  • Design, develop and test software to specifications.
  • Support production (includes 24x7 on call support).
  • Provide consultation with the Systems Architect and Business Systems Analyst.
  • Participate in project planning and assessments.
  • Deliver code reviews and provide feedback relative to best practices.
  • Coach and mentor staff.


What you will bring

  • A degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a software developer role.
  • Experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment is a must.
  • Two or more of the following application development environment languages and tools: PL/1, JCL, CICS, SQL, DB2, CA7, IMSDC/DB. Exposure to ChangeMan and file transfer tools would also be an asset.
  • IT experience and the ability to understand and effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are either decommitted are migrated to new platforms.
  • Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and 24/7 production support would be an asset.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills with a commitment to customer service.
  • Knowledge of Insurance is an asset.
  • Demonstrate initiative with the ability to easily adapt to change.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills combined with a quality focus and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team, plan and organize your own work, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person or remotely
  • Excellent understanding of software design, methodologies and documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of IT industry current trends
