Senior Research And Extension Associate

Description:

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) seeks a Senior Research and Extension Associate – Sustainable Business Strategist and Advisor for the Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS). This role leads applied research and extension programming to advance sustainable food systems business in British Columbia and Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, design, plan, execute, and report on applied research advancing sustainable food systems.

• Lead preparation of extension materials and programming linked to research and sector development projects.

• Contribute to grant applications and ensure adherence to grant requirements.

• Prepare reports for granting agencies, technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

• Foster a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

• Liaise with KPU administrative units (Finance, HR, Office of Research Services, etc.) as needed.

• Build relationships with sector organizations and stakeholders.

• Support and guide junior ISFS staff and student research assistants.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or Doctorate in a related field.

• At least 5 years of qualitative research experience and training.

• At least 5 years of project development and management experience.

• Demonstrated experience with grant preparation through Tri-Agency or other programs.

• Proven ability to conceptualize complex projects related to sustainable food systems and effectively execute them.

• Strong writing skills demonstrated by academic or lay publications.

• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
