This position is ideal for an experienced procurement professional who thrives in a collaborative, analytical, and fast-paced environment. The Senior Procurement Coordinator will work closely with the Category Lead for Architectural & Engineering Services (AES), UM Capital Finance, and Project Managers to design and implement procurement strategies supporting the university’s construction and capital projects.
Support the Category Lead (AES) in planning and executing procurement strategies for diverse construction and engineering projects.
Gather and analyze project requirements, and develop RFPs, RFQs, and other competitive bid documents.
Lead evaluations, coordinate award processes, and oversee amendments and change orders.
Conduct category spend analysis and contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize cost efficiency.
Maintain and manage supplier relationships to ensure contract compliance and project objectives are achieved.
Provide guidance and mentorship to procurement team members, promoting best practices and compliance.
Ensure all procurement activities align with University of Manitoba policies and public sector procurement standards.
Utilize e-procurement systems to streamline workflows, analyze procurement data, and enhance reporting.
Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to ensure efficient, transparent, and ethical procurement operations.
Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation and membership are required.
Post-secondary education in Materials Management or Supply Chain Management is considered an asset.
Minimum 7 years of computerized purchasing/buyer experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
Proven experience with purchasing policies, contractual terms, RFP/RFQ development, and construction procurement.
Experience in category management, strategic sourcing, and working within a public sector environment preferred.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills with the ability to make instant, sound judgments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and e-procurement software.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, mentor team members, and maintain professional relationships.
High ethical standards and a commitment to transparent procurement practices.
Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to accuracy and compliance.
