Description:

Aon is seeking a Senior Pension Associate (Defined Benefit) to join its Pension Administration team in Toronto, ON. This hybrid role offers a chance to work with a global leader in professional services, delivering innovative solutions to help clients and colleagues achieve better decisions and improved outcomes.

The Senior Associate will be responsible for providing high-quality pension administration services for Defined Benefit pension plans. The role requires both technical expertise and client service skills, with responsibilities ranging from benefit calculations to client communications, compliance, and system support. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, peer review, and authorize calculations of pension benefits (retirement, termination, death, marriage breakdown).

  • Conduct year-end updates of plan records, including reconciliation of membership, contributions, and trust funds.

  • Calculate and review PAs, PSPAs, and PARs; prepare and file required forms.

  • Prepare and review annual pension statements.

  • Read and interpret pension plan texts and ensure quality control of year-end data.

  • Communicate with clients regarding administration, data, and plan interpretation.

  • Prepare, review, and file government forms including Annual Information Returns, Form 7, and PBGF filings.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to track progress and deliver services on time.

  • Assist in system setup/testing for new or existing clients according to plan provisions.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

  • Handle member calls, process requests, and provide client meeting support in a technical role.

  • Liaise with trust companies and plan auditors while maintaining client records.

  • Carry out other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Defined Benefit pension plans preferred.

  • Education in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Finance.

  • Strong experience in reviewing pension calculations and completing year-end tasks.

  • Knowledge of provincial and federal pension legislation and Income Tax Act provisions.

  • Proficiency in pension administration systems, spreadsheets, and advanced Excel.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and client-service skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Additional assets include: knowledge of French, relevant degree, and completion of CEBS, PPAC, CHRP, or actuarial courses.
