Description:
OpenText, a global leader in information management, is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Governance & Analytics to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s data governance strategy. This role ensures data is treated as a corporate asset through proper governance practices, supporting compliance, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
The position blends strategic oversight with technical expertise and requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to manage complex data environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Strategic & Oversight Responsibilities
Design, document, and implement a scalable Data Governance Framework aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Define roles and responsibilities for Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians.
Author and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures across domains (customer, product, finance).
Collaborate with legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with internal policies and regulations.
Establish governance control routines, including annual data certification, policy attestation, and compliance monitoring.
Develop and deliver training programs and materials for data governance stakeholders.
Provide updates and dashboards to the Data Governance Council and executives on data governance maturity, policy adherence, and remediation status.
Technical & Operational Responsibilities
Manage metadata using Microsoft Purview, including cataloging, standards enforcement, and documentation of data lineage.
Implement consistent data tagging and classification practices in collaboration with Information Security and Privacy teams.
Manage platform data usage, assess capacity requirements, and implement impact frameworks for new data and functionality.
Define and operationalize data quality dimensions, rules, and validations; oversee data profiling, anomaly detection, and remediation activities.
Supervise data cleansing and remediation efforts, coordinating with upstream and downstream system owners to prevent recurring issues.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; certifications in data analytics are a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, data management, analytics, Power BI, and data visualization tools.
Experience: 3+ years in management roles delivering data solutions, leading Agile teams, and implementing data governance programs.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and meet deadlines while managing risk.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
