Senior It Project Manager

Description:

CIBC is building a relationship-oriented bank tailored for the modern world. The bank is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to join its Commercial Banking Project Technology team. This team is responsible for strategic technology solutions, application development and support, business systems analysis, project management, QA, compliance, and governance.

The Senior IT Project Manager plays a key leadership role in driving complex project delivery across multiple portfolios. The successful candidate will oversee projects from end-to-end, leveraging both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and working closely with business stakeholders and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define project goals, resources, terms of reference, and budgets

• Develop and maintain resource plans involving all key stakeholders

• Monitor milestones and ensure project timelines and budgets are met

• Proactively identify and mitigate risks to the project schedule

• Support internal partners in program, product, and service development

• Negotiate deliverables and foster strong relationships across departments

• Communicate effectively, lead meetings, and drive consensus among team members

• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members

• Evaluate and improve project management practices and tools

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing cross-portfolio projects in a matrix environment

• Experience in financial services or technology sector preferred

• Familiarity with project management tools: Planview, ServiceNow, and JIRA

• Working knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies

• Degree or diploma in a related field (PMP certification is an asset)

• Strong leadership, relationship-building, and influencing skills

• Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving

• Comfortable with digital tools and evolving technologies

• Strong team player who values collaboration and inclusion
