Senior Financial Analyst

Description:

Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Finance team on an initial 12-month contract. This role will provide critical support during a major ERP implementation while managing core month-end accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation activities across multiple systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting and finance professional with experience in financial services, insurance, asset management, banking, wealth management, or other regulated industries who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

📍 Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office (Toronto)

📅 Duration: 12-month contract

Key Responsibilities

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances across multiple systems and financial platforms.
• Analyze financial data, resolve reconciliation discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
• Support financial reporting activities in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare financial analysis, reporting packages, and presentations for senior leadership.
• Collaborate with Finance, Technology, and Operations teams to support ERP implementation and improve financial processes.
• Assist with system enhancements, process improvements, and other finance-related projects as required.
• Ensure strong financial controls and adherence to accounting policies throughout the close process.

Qualifications

✅ 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within financial services, insurance, banking, wealth management, asset management, or other regulated industries.

✅ Strong experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

✅ Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and working with large datasets.

✅ Experience working across multiple financial systems and ERP platforms with a focus on data integrity and reconciliations.

✅ Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

✅ CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) is considered a strong asset.
