Description:
The Senior Financial Analyst, a key member of the RA&S Expense Management team, will be responsible for the completion of the monthly/quarterly expense reporting, leading the expense planning/forecast process, coordinating the annual budget, providing ad-hoc expense related analysis, and supporting any associated financial analysis. The role is a key contributor in driving expense insights, identifying savings opportunities and providing analysis and expense consulting to senior management.
Reporting to the Director, Expense Management, RA&S and working closely with all members of the RA&S Expense Management team, this position requires a proactive, self-motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent analytical, technical and prioritization skills. It is also important for this individual to work closely with partners across the Retail Advice & Solutions organization, as well as, other key business units (eg. Canadian Finance, Canadian Operations & Client Experience Office (CXO).
What will you do?
- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key business partners with the goal of understanding the underlying business model
- Partner with key business partners to ensure alignment of strategic goals across Retail Advice & Solutions
- Investigate and analyze drivers of costs including strategic initiatives
- Provide input to business decisions including identifying expense savings opportunities
- Understand and effectively communicate results to various levels of management
- Manage monthly business partner forums and quarterly results meetings
- Prepare monthly and quarterly views of expenses and key measures
- Lead all expense components of the annual planning cycle (strategic/business planning/budget), including training budget managers, as necessary
- Develop expense forecasts for management areas, including analysis of seasonality of expenses
- Participate in and support expense deep dives, as needed
- Mentor and coach staff, where applicable, to encourage development and support transfer of knowledge
- Support ad hoc expense projects as required
What do you need to succeed?
- Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA)
- 5-7 years of accounting experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to accuracy and details
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain difficult concepts to audiences of different levels of understanding
- Strong ability to manage multiple deliverables while driving desired results
- Proven ability to build and maintain successful relationships with business partners
- Proven flexibility, adaptability, and creativity to meet deadlines and manage priorities
- Excellent PC skills (MS Excel, Hyperion, Tableau) including experience in building reports
- Highly motivated with the ability to consistently seek out improvements to current processes
