Senior Financial Analyst

IFG – International Financial Group is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst for a 12+ month contract opportunity based in North York, Ontario. This hybrid position offers the chance to join a dynamic finance team within a fast-paced public company environment, focusing on financial statement preparation, reporting, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA/CA designation, solid expertise in GAAP/IFRS standards, and extensive experience in preparing accurate and timely financial statements. This role requires a hands-on professional who thrives in collaborative environments and demonstrates strong technical accounting and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS standards.

• Manage month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.

• Conduct budgeting and variance analysis to identify key trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

• Support SOX compliance activities and ensure proper documentation for audits and financial reviews.

• Develop and maintain reporting tools, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all financial reports.

Operational and Audit Support

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, FP&A, and corporate finance to ensure smooth reporting processes.

• Provide detailed audit support, including preparation of working papers and reconciliations.

• Assist in process improvements and efficiency initiatives to enhance accuracy and timeliness of financial data.

Systems and Tools Management

• Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite for accounting entries and reporting.

• Perform advanced data analysis in Microsoft Excel using pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced formulas.

• Ensure all financial systems and processes comply with internal control policies and external regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Professional designation: CPA or CA required.

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.

• Technical expertise: Proficiency in GAAP/IFRS, SOX compliance, journal entries, reconciliations, and budgeting.

• Software proficiency: Strong command of SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite and advanced Excel skills.

• Analytical ability: Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

• Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

• Work environment: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, public company environment with tight deadlines.
