Senior Finance & Operations Leader

 

Description:

A leading asset management firm specializing in private markets credit investing is seeking a Director of Finance to lead its Finance & Operations team. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Canada, the successful candidate will oversee all financial activities, manage a team of professionals, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Financial Reporting & Oversight: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual audited financial statements for investment products.
🔹 Team Leadership: Hire, develop, and manage a team of 4-5 direct reports, including fund accountants and operations staff.
🔹 Financial Controls & Workflow Improvements: Implement best practices and enhance financial workflows.
🔹 External Relationships: Act as the primary contact for fund administrators, auditors, and tax professionals.
🔹 System Implementation: Lead the selection and implementation of a new accounting system for investment funds.
🔹 Transaction Management: Accurately record capital calls, distributions, and cash activities in accounting systems.
🔹 Capital Planning & Modeling: Maintain and develop capital planning and cash flow models.
🔹 Review & Validation: Ensure accuracy of NAV calculations, investor allocations, and performance metrics.
🔹 Strategic Support: Assist in administrative and financial projects as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics (Master’s preferred).
CPA, FCCA, ACCA, or equivalent professional designation.
8+ years of senior accounting and leadership experience, preferably in investment management.
✔ Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and investment fund structures (open-ended & closed-ended).
✔ Experience in valuation methodologies, private equity, private credit, and secondary investments.
✔ Ability to lead system implementation and migration projects.
