Senior Devops Engineer

Description:

SAP, a global leader in enterprise application software and cloud technologies, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its Sovereign Cloud Canada team in Toronto, ON. This role is essential in building and maintaining a secure and scalable infrastructure for SAP’s Sovereign Cloud services, supporting regulated industries and public sector clients.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a key role in the full DevOps lifecycle, driving automation, ensuring high system availability, and establishing CI/CD frameworks. The position requires deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, security, monitoring, and incident response, along with the ability to guide junior engineers and collaborate across international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage DevOps strategies for software deployment, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ensure high system availability, performance monitoring, and rapid incident response.

• Optimize and automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and Ansible.

• Collaborate with development teams to improve cloud operations processes and lifecycle infrastructure.

• Conduct research on new technologies, implement best practices, and provide technical leadership on DevOps processes.

• Manage configuration, system hardening, troubleshooting, and optimization of application platforms and hosting environments.

• Develop self-service and scaling solutions for engineering teams to streamline software delivery.

• Mentor junior engineers and conduct training sessions on DevOps practices.

• Provide on-call support in a 24/7 environment and participate in shift coverage as required.

• Document implementation processes and continuously improve system documentation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, scripting languages (Bash, Python), CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry).

• Proven experience in monitoring, incident management, and securing cloud infrastructure.

• Knowledge of SAP-specific solutions (e.g., HCM, BTP, SAC) is a plus.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional, global teams.

• Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, with flexibility for shifts and on-call duties.

• Eligible to obtain governmental security clearance due to the nature of the role.
