Description:
Your primary responsibilities will include developing comprehensive forecasting models using statistical techniques to address social policy challenges and opportunities across the Department. You will also:
- ensure that OSD data analytics is informed by an anti-racist, equity lens
- keep a close eye on social and economic trends within the province and across the country, providing invaluable guidance to senior management on potential policy impacts.
- collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, translating complex analytical concepts into actionable insights
- contribute your expertise to strategic and fiscal planning processes, informed by thorough social, economic, and financial analysis
- evaluate strategic directions, policies, and program options, supported by comprehensive information and data analysis.
- lead departmental analyses, examining factors affecting social services such as demographics, labour markets, and client utilization trends.
- facilitate the development of a performance measures framework, ensuring clear goals, measures, targets, and reporting systems are in place across all major departmental programs.
Qualifications and Experience
You have completed a related bachelor’s degree (such as computer science, natural sciences, mathematics, or economics) and have at least eight (8) years of related experience in data science, and data analytics; or a related master’s degree and six (6) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
You have demonstrated experience with:
- SQL programming, python, Tableau, Power BI and Azure.
- ETL pipelines and data warehousing.
- Responding quickly to, and understand, data requests from various sources.
- Leading complex analytical projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive information and data systems.
- Effectively communicating and presenting complex analytical information.
