CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s national public broadcaster, is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join its Ontario Communications, Marketing and Brand team for a 12-month parental leave replacement. This is an exciting opportunity to support CBC’s English services in Toronto and across Ontario by implementing high-impact communication and marketing strategies that strengthen community relationships and amplify CBC’s presence across all platforms.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for crafting and delivering strategic initiatives that support CBC's digital, television, and radio programming. You will help broaden and deepen engagement with increasingly diverse and younger audiences, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and beyond.

You understand evolving demographics and are committed to enhancing the representation of traditionally underrepresented voices within media narratives. You combine innovation, strategic insight, and operational precision to develop compelling campaigns that resonate across communities.
Lead strategic efforts to deepen CBC’s connection with younger and diverse audiences, crafting campaigns and community engagement strategies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, media, and stakeholders throughout Toronto and Ontario.
Design and execute integrated marketing strategies to promote CBC programming across multiple platforms, including social media, radio, television, and the web.
Plan and manage paid social media advertising, from conception to deployment, including performance analysis and content optimization.
Create engaging and visually impactful presentations and marketing materials to showcase campaign success and strategic outcomes.
Act as a public-facing representative, engaging in public speaking and networking to enhance CBC’s visibility and reputation.
Collaborate closely with internal teams across Canada to coordinate national campaigns and branding efforts.
Develop promotional concepts and strategies aligned with CBC’s branding and community impact goals.
Monitor campaign effectiveness, analyze insights, and recommend adjustments to improve engagement and reach.
Strong connections and understanding of the communities across the GTA and Ontario.
Proven ability to engage diverse and youth demographics through innovative outreach strategies.
Advanced marketing and communications expertise, including current trends in digital and social media.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; other language skills considered an asset.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Experience planning and executing public and virtual events and stakeholder forums.
Advanced negotiation skills with a track record of resolving complex issues and building consensus.
Ability to interpret research data and apply insights to campaign strategies.
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, etc.) and design tools like Canva.
Enthusiastic, team-oriented, and solution-focused, with a strong sense of inclusivity and collaboration.
Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on project needs.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance eligibility.
Postsecondary education in communications, marketing, or public relations, with a minimum of five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
