Description:

AIG is currently seeking a Senior Bilingual Underwriting Assistant to join its team in Toronto. This position plays a key role in supporting underwriting functions and ensuring timely and accurate policy processing. The role is ideal for professionals who are fluent in both English and French and have experience in insurance operations.

The position involves end-to-end support of both new business and renewal processes, including evaluating submissions, analyzing loss history and financials, issuing quotes and policies, coordinating with Shared Services, and ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and service level agreements. The assistant will also track policy issuance and premium bookings, support underwriters with broker communications, and attend client or broker meetings as required.

The successful candidate will work closely with various internal departments such as the Service Center and Center of Excellence to deliver tailored underwriting solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with underwriters to process new and renewal submissions

  • Analyze data, financials, and claims to facilitate insurance quotes

  • Issue binders, policies, endorsements, and cancellations on time

  • Prepare documents for policy filings and reinsurance quotes

  • Review finalized policies and document discrepancies

  • Assist with broker follow-ups on subjectivities like agreements and premium collection

  • Attend meetings with brokers/clients when needed

  • Consistently meet performance metrics in accuracy, timeliness, and quality

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in both French and English (written and verbal) is essential

  • At least 1 year of insurance-related experience or a combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma preferred

  • Strong attention to detail with analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other business systems
