Architecture49 (A49), a prominent and rapidly growing architectural firm with offices across Canada, is seeking a Senior Architect to join its Thunder Bay, Ontario team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a fantastic opportunity for a passionate architect to contribute to meaningful community-focused projects, especially in Northern and Northwestern Ontario. The successful candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to Thunder Bay, with relocation assistance provided if necessary. The role centers on delivering high-quality architectural solutions, leading project teams, and working closely with First Nation communities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of architectural professionals in designing and producing construction documentation.

  • Conduct internal quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with BIM standards and project expectations.

  • Coordinate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated architectural solutions.

  • Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure project alignment with needs, expectations, and timelines.

  • Manage project financials, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and staffing.

  • Research and integrate appropriate materials, products, and construction technologies into designs and documentation.

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental policies, and internal standards.

  • Travel to remote Indigenous communities and project sites as required.


Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Architect in Ontario (OAA) or eligible for registration.

  • Minimum 10 years of architectural experience in a senior or leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of Provincial and National building codes and standards.

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, and BIM workflows.

  • Experience with visualization software and Adobe Creative Suite is considered an asset.

  • Familiarity or experience working with Indigenous communities is highly valued.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills.
