Senior Accountant

Description:

Stan Seidenfeld Professional Corporation (SSPC), a respected boutique public accounting firm in North York, Toronto, is seeking talented professionals at the Associate, Senior, and Manager levels to join their growing team. With a strong reputation for excellence in tax, accounting, and advisory services, SSPC supports a wide range of clients in fields such as dentistry, medicine, law, real estate, retail, and manufacturing.

This role offers a rare opportunity to work directly with partners, take ownership of client files, and grow rapidly within a supportive, high-performance environment. The firm prioritizes autonomy, professional development, and rewarding work across compilations, review engagements, tax planning, and specialized advisory services.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Diverse Work Portfolio: Engage in compilations, review engagements, personal and corporate tax, and advisory projects.

  • Top Compensation: Offers highly competitive and flexible pay aligned with experience and value delivered.

  • Professional Autonomy: Full ownership of your files with no micromanagement.

  • Partner-Level Access: Frequent interaction with partners for mentorship and feedback.

  • Career Advancement: Clear path for growth, with opportunities to take on higher responsibility quickly.

  • In-Office Collaboration: Be part of a tight-knit, experienced, and supportive professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and finalize full working paper files and financial statements for compilation (Notice to Reader) and review engagements.

  • Prepare and file corporate tax returns (T2s) and associated schedules.

  • Manage personal tax returns (T1s), tax planning, and respond to client queries.

  • Participate in special files including estate planning, tax reorganizations, and advisory mandates.

  • Apply Canadian standards such as ASPE and CSRS 4200 accurately and consistently.

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior staff and conduct file reviews.

  • Maintain effective, proactive communication with clients and meet deadlines with high-quality output.

  • Handle multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail and timeliness.

Candidate Profile:

  • CPA Designation: Completed or nearing completion.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Canadian public accounting firm.

  • Expertise: Strong background in both assurance (compilation and review) and tax (personal and corporate).

  • Tools Proficiency: Skilled in CaseWare, TaxPrep or Profile, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Standards Knowledge: Proficient with ASPE and financial statement disclosure requirements.

  • Personal Traits: Detail-oriented, reliable, self-driven, and able to work independently.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Work Ethic: Comfortable in a high-trust, fast-paced environment that fosters professional growth.

Compensation Approach:

SSPC adopts a value-based compensation strategy, ensuring remuneration aligns with your skill set, autonomy, and professionalism. The more value and expertise you bring to the team, the more you’ll earn—this is not a one-size-fits-all model but a tailored offer based on merit and contribution.
