Description:

Pickering Christian School (PCS), an established elementary school with over 40 years of history in the Durham Region, is seeking a Vice Principal of Learning to join their leadership team at the Ajax, Ontario campus. This full-time, year-round, in-person position will support the school’s academic vision through instructional leadership, staff development, operational oversight, and curriculum planning—within a Christian, faith-driven educational environment.

The ideal candidate will be a Christ-centered educator who leads with both compassion and accountability, possesses strong curriculum leadership abilities, and utilizes data to drive educational outcomes. As part of the senior leadership team, the Vice Principal will play a pivotal role in upholding PCS’s mission to educate the whole child through a Christian worldview.


Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership

  • Support and implement the school’s academic goals and vision

  • Ensure alignment of instructional practices with curriculum standards

  • Guide and support teachers in curriculum content and pedagogy

  • Build strong relationships with families to support student achievement

  • Analyze data (including MAP Growth) to inform teaching strategies and curriculum development

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and evaluating staff

  • Promote continuous improvement and accountability culture

  • Lead staff meetings and ensure alignment with strategic priorities

  • Provide mentorship and foster professional growth

  • Oversee teacher evaluation systems to maintain instructional excellence

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Contribute to development and application of school policies

  • Review admissions applications and lead assessments

  • Provide support to staff on professional and personal matters

  • Leverage digital tools (Google Workspace, FACTS SIS) to streamline operations


Qualifications:

  • Valid Provincial Teacher Certification (OCT or equivalent)

  • Bachelor of Education required; Master’s in Education is a strong asset

  • Minimum 5–7 years teaching experience, including leadership (team lead, curriculum head, etc.)

  • Experience teaching across multiple divisions (Christian school experience preferred)

  • Proficient in data analysis and educational technology

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Experienced in curriculum development and instructional design

  • Practicing Christian with a vibrant faith and active church involvement
