Description:
As the Director of the Community Recreation Section within the Division of Leisure, Events, and Urban Animation, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, organization, management, and control of activities and resources related to community recreation in Québec City. This leadership role involves managing human, material, and financial resources, fostering partnerships with community centers and leisure corporations, and overseeing the implementation of municipal strategies to promote inclusive and dynamic recreational programs.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning, coordinating, and managing the deployment and enhancement of municipal community recreation initiatives.
Managing partnership agreements with federated community centers and leisure corporations.
Overseeing the Summer Vacation Program (camps de jour) serving over 18,000 children aged 5–12.
Providing high-level support to recognized organizations in adapted recreation, senior leisure activities, scouts, and cadets.
Negotiating agreements for specialized maintenance and supervision in community centers.
Organizing and managing volunteer recognition activities across multiple city services.
Developing and expanding the city's community recreation offerings and staying informed on emerging trends.
Actively participating in management committees and providing expert advisory input to senior management.
You will lead a team of approximately 10 skilled professionals and administrative staff.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Recreation, Administration, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of community recreation methods, techniques, and stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency in financial and budget management.
Demonstrated ability to mobilize and lead teams while fostering collaboration.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including diplomacy, active listening, and coaching.
