Description:

Fairmont Royal York, a historic symbol of luxury and excellence in the heart of Toronto since 1929, is seeking a Second Cook, Pastry (Part-Time) to join its renowned culinary team. This role is ideal for a passionate pastry professional who is eager to contribute to a legacy of exceptional service and world-class hospitality.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality pastry items, maintaining consistency, and supporting smooth kitchen operations under the direction of the Chef de Partie/Sous Chef.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare pastry items according to standardized recipes and specifications.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation, including fridges, freezers, countertops, and stovetops.

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and ECOSURE standards including proper labeling, dating, and temperature logging.

  • Minimize food waste and ensure efficient production to support guest service.

  • Report any equipment issues or deficiencies to Chef de Partie/Sous Chef promptly.

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and adhere to all hotel policies and procedures.

  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the pastry station.

  • Complete other assigned duties as required by the supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of pastry experience.

  • Valid City of Toronto Food Handler Certificate.

  • Culinary School Certificate/Diploma preferred.

  • Experience in a luxury hotel environment is an asset.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
