Description:
Fairmont Royal York, a historic symbol of luxury and excellence in the heart of Toronto since 1929, is seeking a Second Cook, Pastry (Part-Time) to join its renowned culinary team. This role is ideal for a passionate pastry professional who is eager to contribute to a legacy of exceptional service and world-class hospitality.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality pastry items, maintaining consistency, and supporting smooth kitchen operations under the direction of the Chef de Partie/Sous Chef.
Prepare pastry items according to standardized recipes and specifications.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation, including fridges, freezers, countertops, and stovetops.
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and ECOSURE standards including proper labeling, dating, and temperature logging.
Minimize food waste and ensure efficient production to support guest service.
Report any equipment issues or deficiencies to Chef de Partie/Sous Chef promptly.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and adhere to all hotel policies and procedures.
Perform opening and closing procedures for the pastry station.
Complete other assigned duties as required by the supervisor.
Minimum 2 years of pastry experience.
Valid City of Toronto Food Handler Certificate.
Culinary School Certificate/Diploma preferred.
Experience in a luxury hotel environment is an asset.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
