Description:
PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer focused on networking to design, build, and manage global network infrastructure and support systems engineering functions. You will ensure high availability, performance, and security across offices, cloud environments, and internal systems. This position involves architecture, operations, security implementation, automation, and collaboration across IT and security teams. The role is hybrid and based in Toronto.
Architecture & Design: Build scalable network and systems infrastructure across global offices and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Operations & Reliability: Manage daily operations of networks, endpoints, identity, and access systems.
Incident Response: Provide Tier 2/3 troubleshooting and root cause analysis for infrastructure issues.
Security & Access Controls: Implement firewalls, network segmentation, zero-trust, IAM (Azure AD, Entra, Okta).
Monitoring & Optimization: Use monitoring and packet analysis tools to detect and resolve performance issues.
Automation: Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, Workato, Zapier.
Cloud & SaaS Support: Ensure best practices for cloud networking and identity integrations.
Support & Enablement: Provide advanced technical support and documentation.
On-Call: Participate in on-call rotation using PagerDuty alerting.
8+ years enterprise network engineering experience
5+ years systems administration/engineering experience
Professional networking certification (CCNP, JNCIP, etc.)
Strong TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPN, wireless experience
Network automation expertise (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
Experience with IAM tools (Entra, Azure AD, Okta)
Experience supporting macOS + Windows environments
Cloud networking experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Strong background in network security (DDoS, IDS/IPS, zero-trust)
Experience designing global WAN and hybrid connectivity
VDI lifecycle experience
Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor others
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently or with distributed global teams
Must reside in an eligible region (Ontario permitted; some Canadian provinces restricted)
Hybrid schedule required (Toronto office 2+ days/week)
Participation in on-call rotation
