Description:
Capital One Canada is seeking a Risk Manager to join the Risk Advisory Team within the Canada Risk Office. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work with senior business partners to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks while strengthening the overall risk environment. As a key advisor, you will offer strategic risk management insights, support assessments, and help drive operational excellence in business processes and new initiatives.
Identify and manage risks associated with business activities, products, and processes.
Serve as a trusted risk advisor, offering thought leadership and guidance to business stakeholders.
Conduct risk and control assessments on critical business operations and new initiatives.
Collaborate with Risk, Audit, Legal, and Compliance teams to support risk evaluations and provide solutions.
Maintain a deep understanding of Capital One Risk Standards, ensuring consistency in risk management processes.
Monitor risk-related systems and ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with governance principles.
Stay informed on emerging risks and strategic priorities, connecting the dots to mitigate potential challenges.
Foster a strong risk culture within the organization by educating and influencing business partners.
Lead and manage multiple risk-related projects, ensuring timely delivery of impactful results.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or management consulting.
Strong understanding of risk governance principles, including the three lines of defense model.
Ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and building positive relationships across an organization.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Risk Management (e.g., CRM, FRM).
Experience working in a regulatory environment.
SQL / Data visualization skills to enhance risk analysis.
Familiarity with industry risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO).
Hybrid work model with 3 days in-office at a prime downtown location across from Union Station.
