Residential Counsellor

Description:

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part-time Residential Counsellor to provide support, advocacy, and care for residents in a group home setting at Broadview Village, Toronto. The role involves direct support for residents’ daily living needs, personal development, health care, safety, and integration into community life.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting residents’ individual support planning (ISP) and fostering independence in daily living activities

• Administering prescribed medication following policies and procedures

• Assisting residents with meal preparation, personal care, leisure activities, and household routines

• Ensuring health and safety compliance, incident reporting, and emergency response when necessary

• Completing and maintaining resident records, shift reports, and communication logs

• Acting as a Counsellor-in-Charge (CIC) when assigned, ensuring shift coverage and program continuity

The role requires physical effort including bending, twisting, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in conditions involving exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and occasional behavioural incidents.
