Description:
SE Health is dedicated to providing compassionate, client- and family-centered care to residents, supporting their independence and well-being. The Residential Care Worker role involves working primarily in group homes with individuals who have developmental disabilities such as Spinal Cord Injury, Dementia, and Down Syndrome.
The worker will assist clients with daily living activities including feeding, bathing, toileting, skin care, and mobility support. This role requires performing delegated health tasks like catheter care, medication administration and reminders, and use of non-sterile dressings. Workers also prepare meals, shop for groceries, observe and report client conditions and environment, maintain detailed records, and perform related duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct care to clients with developmental disabilities and complex care needs
Assist with activities of daily living (feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin and oral hygiene, toileting)
Perform delegated health care tasks such as catheter care, suppositories, and mobilization routines
Administer medications according to policy and provide reminders
Prepare and serve meals, shop for groceries
Monitor clients and environments; report unsafe conditions and changes in client behavior or physical status
Maintain accurate documentation such as communication logs and progress notes
Collaborate with team members and act professionally in conflict situations
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12
Certificate as Health Care Aide or Residential Care Aide
Food Safe Certificate
Registration with BC Care Aide Association
Class 4 BC Driver’s License and vehicle access (preferred)
Up-to-date immunization record, including TB test within the past year
Recent (within 90 days) Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks
Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational skills
Compassionate, respectful, and professional demeanor with conflict resolution skills
Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 55 pounds and frequent movement
Knowledge & Abilities:
Home management skills
Flexibility to work overnight, evenings, and weekends
Ability to operate related equipment safely
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with quadriplegics and clients with Dementia or Autism is an asset
