Position Summary:
Support the implementation of various research projects: (1) various projects that examine how children learn from digital technologies designed to support children’s acquisition of emergent literacy and reading comprehension skills; (2) projects that examine how infants interact verbally with their mothers. Support thesis students who are completing their thesis under the supervision of the lab director. Help the lab director develop protocols for the implementation of specific technologies to be used in the research projects listed above (e.g., use of transcription software, video coding software, web conferencing software, video editing software, data analysis tools). Coordinate research projects in the lab in order to protect the integrity of the data and ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols. Collaborate with part-time research assistant staff to ensure efficient use of resources. Routine lab management tasks (e.g., purchasing supplies and materials, backing up data)
Essential Qualifying Skills:
The candidate must have a Masters degree, preferably in speech-language pathology, psychology, linguistics, or education but other fields accepted.
Other Qualifying Skills:
Research and technical skills that are helpful for the listed projects include: phonetic transcription; event coding using Noldus to describe verbal and nonverbal interactions children and adults; administration of standardized clinical assessment tools to children; project management skills; basic approaches to statistical analysis.
