Research Assistant

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) invites applications for a Research Assistant role to support the coordination and implementation of a large-scale study focused on sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections (STBBI) surveillance in Quebec’s provincial prisons. This dynamic and meaningful opportunity involves fieldwork, collaboration with diverse teams, and contribution to impactful public health research. The position is based in Montreal and requires travel across Quebec.

Under the supervision of the principal investigator, the Research Assistant will act as the key liaison between the investigator, research team, and external study sites. The successful candidate will ensure effective study coordination, ethical compliance, and smooth operations while upholding scientific integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the conduct and coordination of the correctional STBBI surveillance study

• Recruit participants, collect data, and maintain accurate study documentation

• Support the creation of protocols, consent forms, and questionnaires

• Assist with ethics submissions, amendments, and regulatory compliance

• Collaborate in the preparation and submission of academic abstracts and publications

• Provide support to other research investigators and coordinators as needed

Education / Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field

• Minimum 2 years of clinical research experience in an academic or clinical research setting

• Prior work experience in STBBIs or correctional facilities is an asset

Required Skills:

• Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written)

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and efficiency

• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Advanced skills in R or similar programming languages considered an asset

Additional Information:

• Status: Temporary Full-Time (35 hours/week)

• Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• Work Site: 5252 Boulevard de Maisonneuve, Montreal, QC

• Salary: $43,316 – $80,425.80 annually (Approx. $3609.66 – $6702.15 monthly)
