Description:
CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Reporter Editor to join its Current Affairs team in Whitehorse. This role requires an exceptional journalist with strong storytelling skills, a deep understanding of Yukon’s political, economic, and cultural landscapes, and the ability to produce compelling content for radio, digital, and video platforms.
✔️ Pitch, research, fact-check, and present engaging stories across multiple platforms
✔️ Report on breaking news, provide live coverage, and contribute to radio programming
✔️ Ensure all content meets CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices
✔️ Appear regularly on Yukon’s three radio programs for live hits, debriefs, and other segments
✔️ Edit and refine content created by other journalists
✔️ Travel across Yukon to cover stories and build community connections
✔️ Champion underrepresented voices and diverse perspectives in storytelling
📌 Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or equivalent
📌 Minimum 3 years of recent journalism experience
📌 Strong understanding of Yukon First Nations and Indigenous communities
📌 Experience in breaking news environments and reporting from rural areas
📌 Proficiency in audio storytelling, digital reporting, and video journalism
📌 Ability to handle multiple assignments under tight deadlines
📌 Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends
📌 Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills
📌 Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
