Description:
Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Reminiscence Coordinator who will provide leadership and management of the reminiscence neighborhood, focusing on enriching the lives of residents with dementia or memory impairment through person-centered care and engaging programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the reminiscence neighborhood operations ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws as well as Sunrise standards.
Promote excellence in resident care in line with Individualized Service Plans (ISP) and Individualized Care Plans (ICP).
Design, schedule, and facilitate reminiscence programs focused on life skills and dementia-appropriate activities that foster pleasant and engaging days for residents.
Collaborate with the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator to provide a range of suitable activities throughout the day and evening, encouraging active involvement of Care Managers.
Partner with the Resident Care Director to address clinical needs and ensure residents’ preferences and needs are reviewed before move-in.
Facilitate family meetings, develop ISP/ICP and Daily Assignment Sheets to ensure safe, engaged, and high-quality service delivery.
Manage assessment processes to determine care levels and appropriate staffing.
Organize family events and services to enhance community support.
Maintain communication with families and physicians regarding resident condition changes.
Liaise with Alzheimer’s Association and other community resources to provide educational support and facilitate monthly family support group meetings.
Champion regulatory compliance and quality assurance including OSHA and occupational health & safety standards.
Assist in financial management by supporting budget creation, expense monitoring, and cost control related to resident care programs.
Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and manage team members, ensuring compliance with paperwork, performance appraisals, and training requirements.
Lead team engagement initiatives and participate in relevant meetings and professional development opportunities.
College degree preferred.
At least 1 year of supervisory experience, preferably in dementia care or related healthcare environment.
Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), delegation, and time management skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn proprietary Sunrise software.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Ability to drive a Sunrise vehicle (if applicable), with understanding of safety and regulatory responsibilities.
